Tips on How to Bring That Christmas Tree Home

One of the most memorable things to do each year in Nova Scotia is picking out a Christmas tree at a tree farm every December. However, it can be very tricky to get it home safely. But if you follow some simple tips, you will be able to bring that Christmas tree home and get to decorating it.

The first thing you want to do is measure how big of a tree you can have. You certainly do not want to get a tree that is too big for your space. The tree you pick should fit by both height and width. It is important to allow a foot clearance for the tree in terms of height.

Now that you know the measurements, you can get ready to get your tree. Dress in jeans, a long-sleeved shirt, and a sweatshirt, and grab a pair of work gloves. If you are cutting down the tree yourself, you will want to protect yourself from the needles. You will also want a pair of shoes that have a non-slip sole.

An old blanket, a tarp, or a large sheet of heavy plastic will be needed to protect your Toyota from the tree. Bungee cords are a great idea as are ratchet tie-down straps. You may also use a thicker cord or some twine to secure the tree to your car.

Many tree farms will have the trees wrapped in netting. This netting will keep all the needles intact. It is best to leave this one until you arrive home. However, not all tree farms will provide this, so if your tree does not offer this, wrap the tree up tightly.

Before placing the tree on top of your car or in the bed of your Toyota Tacoma, lay down your protective barrier. This will help the car not become scratched and it will also prevent sap stains.

If putting the tree on top of the Toyota car, make sure it is centered and the stump is facing the front end of the car. This will assist with keeping the tree stable and prevent wind damage.

By following these tips listed above, you can be certain your tree will arrive back at your place in just as good of shape as it did when you picked it up. And now the fun can begin to decorate it!
