Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry first hit the shores of North America back in 1983. Since then, it has undergone a great deal of transformation, not least for the 2021 model year. With a more athletic style, the most advanced safety suite ever made, as well as the usual plethora of buyer options, including hybrid models, the 2021 Toyota Camry continues to carry the flag for the Toyota sedan line.

Sophisticated Athleticism

Whether you want a more refined and sophisticated look in the new FWD, LE and XLE models, or a more athletic look in the SE and XSE models, you can get it. Refined means an updated front fascia and new alloy wheel designs. Sporty gets a honeycomb-style grille, side gent inserts and all-new side vent accents. As ever, the Camry gives drivers in Nova Scotia a choice in what they want from this iconic sedan.

An Interior Refined

Toyota’s signature approach to refined yet unfussy minimalism continues in the 2021 Camry models. The SE gets a heated steering wheel as standard, as well as heated front seats and 8-way power-adjustable driver seat. The front passenger can get the same adjustability on the XSE and XLE models.

Whichever Camry you choose, you get great space and comfort, with 427 liters of cargo space with all the seats up. The hybrid battery has also been moved to under the rear seats, which means Nova Scotians choosing the hybrid no longer have to sacrifice trunk space. Additional interior features include push-button start, panoramic moonroof, leather seat surfaces and more.

Special Editions: Nightshade Camry TRD

If you’re looking for a Camry really that’s set apart from the rest, then you can look to one of the two special editions, the Camry Nightshade and the Camry TRD V6. The Nightshade gets 18” black alloy wheels, black door handles and a shark-fin antenna, as well as a gloss-black window trim and rear spoiler. The drive quality is further augmented with Dynamic Torque AWD.

The Camry TRD V6 might just be the sportiest Camry ever made. IT takes the XSE’s base style and adds to it with 19” TRD matte black alloys, performance suspension, a dual TRC cat-back exhaust in polished stainless steel and a special TRD-specific body kit. The TRD will only be available in limited quantities, so you’d better snap one up while you can.

Loaded with Technology, and Safety Assured

Stick with the standard 7” floating infotainment touchscreen on the LE model, or go for the available 9” screen on the SE Upgrade and XSE. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is standard. For the Nova Scotian who wants to keep everything within their eyeline, they can opt for the 10-inch driver head-up display (HUD).

The 2021 Camry comes with Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.5+™, the very latest and most cutting-edge version of their safety and ADAS suite. Features for the Camry include pre-collision warning, pedestrian and bicycle detection, lane departure alert, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, and full-speed dynamic radar cruise control. There’s also a state-of-the-art steering assist feature that automatically steers in some situations to help you avoid accidents.

Power with Efficiency

The fuel rating of 8.5l/100km in the city and 6.1l/100km on the highway is already a very strong rating for the 4-cylinder engines. The TRD V6 engine gets 10.7l and 7.4l respectively. The hybrid option blows that out of the water even further, however, with a rating of 4.9l/100km in the city and 4.8l/100km on the highway.

The fuel-efficient engines are paired with 8-speed direct-shift automatic transmissions, which come with paddle shifters on the SE and XSE. The direct-shift gearboxes give you the sporty feel of a manual with the seamless smooth shifting of the best transmission you could imagine.
